about

Not too long ago, I was waking up every morning terrified of what my life could look like. There are few things quite as scary as looking to the future and seeing nothing but a blank canvas, then looking to the present and having few resources to draw on. I was afraid that I wasn't ever going to be good enough to accomplish my goals with Evoke. The doubt was paralyzing. There were some days when I couldn't get out of bed at all. Then I had a revelation.

Ego often gets a bad rap. People often speak of leaving their ego behind. Often–ironically–they do this to try and lord their newfound "egoless" lives over other people. We place so much value in trying to be just as good as everybody else. Not any better, and not any worse. I was trying to follow this path for a while, particularly with Evoke. I had thought that I shouldn't value my own music or ideas any more than anybody else's, and that I should always be humble to the point of selflessness. I now believe that this is misguided.

Each person has the capacity to invest time, effort, and energy into becoming better than themselves every day, and sometimes–in doing this–we surpass other people, including people who we care about, and who will gladly criticize us as being selfish or egotistical. There is no shame in admitting that we have developed skills and harnessed our potential, so long as we always strive to be even better. The greatest and most accomplished people in the world are always trying to become greater and more accomplished every day. Humility springs from the understanding that there is always more to be learned, more training to do, and many more problems left to solve.

So do not be afraid to pride yourselves on your accomplishments. We're all capable of so much, and we can't let it kill us inside when we see the disconnect between our goals and what we're stuck doing to get there. I am stronger and more capable than my current circumstances let on; I imagine almost everybody is. The trick is to never give up. Never let criticism or uncertainty drag you through the mud. We are capable of more than we could ever imagine. We are superhuman.

Track Name: Superhuman
I'll never let it get me down
The way that people let me down
I keep the faith
Though I know I can't be sure
I will keep my passion pure
I will not break

I know I'm superhuman
I know I'm more than this
But I'm giving up the ghost.
Giving up the ghost
Giving up the ghost.
Giving up the ghost
I stay locked In wave shock

I've found my life
My time: my right to be
The way I am
This is my sound
And I do what I like
And I play what I want
And you can't take me down

I know I'm superhuman
I know I'm more than this
But I'm giving up the ghost.
Giving up the ghost
Giving up the ghost.
Giving up the ghost
I stay locked In wave shock

I can't catch a break
So I take what I want when I want it
And I gotta get along so I gun it when I talk
And I drop what I want despite the context
I make the right rep; I take what I get
Break the remix.
The people need this:
A fresh demeanor, but the best that we get Is ecstasy-heads from the
B-list On their recess they get credit, get it?
Ghost production
My mouth malformed over malfunction
Fake DJ's with mouths runnin'
Twitterbait: Deadmau5 butts in
Talk trash on sound assumptions
But you don't know jack, U loud bumpkins
I found something; I bounced up
So chip in like I'm crowd-funded

I know I'm superhuman
I know I'm more than this
But I'm giving up the ghost.
Giving up the ghost
Giving up the ghost.
Giving up the ghost
I stay locked In wave shock
